Dec.1st - 5th

 Looking Back:

Happy December

On Monday, we discovered a special visitor in our classroom…an elf! We decided to name our class elf Candy Cane. This week, Candy Cane left us some notes about different things we could do to be kind to one another.

In literacy this week, we learned about the letter /e/. We learned the sounds for this letter and practiced printing the uppercase and lowercase letter Ee. We have now learned all 5 vowel sounds and have been able to apply our knowledge to read and write lots of new words! There are two new decodable passages, as well as a “Roll & Read” game that have been added to our UFLI folders this week.

In math this week, we continued to review and practice representing numbers in a variety of ways and by using different materials.

We also started learning about patterns. We learned that a pattern can be anything that repeats over and over again. We talked about how a pattern can even be in the days of the week or months of the year! We looked around our classroom for some different patterns and we used various math manipulatives to create our own patterns.

In Science we continued to talk about hibernating and migrating animals. We learned about some animals that migrate and then completed a sorting task. We will continue to learn about animals and different adaptations next week!
