June 26, 2026 Dear Families, As we wrap up the school year, we want to sincerely thank you for the opportunity to teach your wonderful children. It has been such a joy to watch them grow, learn, and shine each day. We are also so grateful for your support throughout the year— from attending conferences, volunteering your time, and supporting your child in their learning journey —your involvement and encouragement truly made a difference. Wishing you all a relaxing and fun-filled summer! Love Mrs. Watson & Mrs. Fell

June. 15th-19th

June 15-19 We had a busy and engaging week of learning! Looking Back: Literacy In UFLI, we continued building our phonics skills by learning about vowel teams that make long vowel sounds. Students practiced reading and spelling words with the long /a/ , /e/ , /i/ , and /u/ sounds. Through games, word building activities, and reading practice, students learned how vowel teams work together to create different long vowel sounds in words. Math Our mathematicians explored 3D shapes this week. We identified common 3D shapes and investigated their attributes. Students tested each shape to determine whether it could roll, stack, or slide , helping them understand how the properties of shapes affect the way they move. We enjoyed making predictions and testing our ideas using a variety of hands-on materials. Social Studies In Social Studies, we explored the concept of change over time . Students participated in a fun baby picture guessing game , where they examined photos of their clas...

Looking Back: This week in UFLI we continued to learn about r controlled vowels. We focussed on /er/ as well as /ir/ and /ur/. We learned that this sound can be found at the beginning, middle and end of a word and sometimes it can be tricky to tell which spelling to use. We practiced spelling many words containing this new sound, such as “purse, surf, firm, girl, nerve, & fern.” Our new heart words this week were other, another, mother, & brother.  In math this week we started talking about 3D shapes. We learned that these shapes are made up of different 2D shapes and are NOT flat! We looked at examples of some of the following 3D shapes: sphere, cylinder, cube, cone, and a pyramid. We learned that the face of a 3D shape means the flat part. We started a 3D shape booklet and focussed on a sphere.  In Science this week we completed our learning about movement and finished our animal movement books.  We were also very excited about our animal research projec...

Looking Back: Literacy: Learning the Sounds "ar" and "or" In our UFLI phonics lessons, we focused on the vowel teams "ar" and "or." Students practiced reading, spelling, and identifying words such as car, star, park, corn, fork, and storm . We worked on listening for these sounds in words and applying this knowledge during reading and writing activities. Continued practice noticing these patterns in books and everyday words helps build strong decoding and spelling skills. Writing: Picture Prompt Stories Students used a picture prompt to inspire their writing. We carefully observed details in the picture, discussed what might be happening, and used our ideas to create sentences and stories. We focused on including descriptive details, using sounds we know to spell words, and organizing our ideas so that others can understand our writing. Math: Standard and Non-Standard Measurement In math, we explored different ways to measure objects. We learn...
